Wow!

I have been checking the petition sight a few times everyday (or just whenever I get on the computer) and the signatures have grown to a total of 1,019! That AMAZES me! That means that we are averaging 28 signatures a DAY since it kicked off on the 23rd of February. It has grown 138 signatures in 5 days! Just think, at this rate of 28 a day, we can reach the goal in a little over one year if I'm doing my math right! That is so much better than the 8 years I said before! I just want to thank everyone who has signed this bill, it will help make a better America in the future.
I am amazed that I was the 840th signature on February 9th and now almost a month later, it has grown 179 signatures when my guess was that it would only grow to 57 signatures. I just want to thank everyone again, and I want to say this: If you think your signature doesn't count, then you're wrong; every signature counts, and we need your help.

Thanks!

Ways to Go Green

In my city's paper, there was an article called "50 Ways to Go Green." And I thought that I'd share some of them to just teach people about becoming more green. : )
4. Purchase a stainless-steel personal water bottle to fill it every morning and keep during work of school.
10. Install a carbon filter on your kitchen tap so it makes tap water more safe for you to drink from your stainless-steel personal water bottle! :D
16. Install a Smart Strip power strip. Did you know that even though a electronic device is off, it can STILL waste energy?! Well, it does! Hook your devices and appliances to the strip and TURN IT OFF when your done! Check 'em out at Home Depot and other hardware stores! (psst... it'll save you money in the long run)
18. Swap incandescent light blubs for compact fluorescent ones. (You know, the ones that are all twisty!) It saves much more energy (and in the long run, less money to pay on your energy bill) And yes, they ARE more expensive when you buy them, but I mean, come on, save energy?! Oh yes. My family has already done this!
20. Reduce consumption. Hint- use your stainless-steel personal water bottle! And avoid over packaged products.
22. RECYCE RECYCLE RECYCLE glass, plastic and paper trash! Self explainable : )
23. Reduce the amount you send to the landfill by recycling and adding a composition pile to your back yard.
24. Take your OWN cotton, canvas or hemp bags to the grocery store. Positive effects- It's WAY bigger than the plastic and paper bags, it's cheap, reusable, and easy!
25. Use cloth napkins and cotton rags, dish towels and natural sponges instead of paper towels. Under this category, this fact shocked me- A whole 40% of the landfill is paper!
30. Buy local food. Such as requesting it from your food store or checking out farmers markets! It's much more yummy.
32. Use a push mower. My family has one! It isn't as much work as you think and it saves gas and doesn't create pollution!
Those are just ideas that I thought were important. I hoped it helped on teaching you to be more green! : )
Thanks!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog everyone! As I said in my description, I am here for a government project named "Mission 001: Broaden Bottle Redemption." The purpose of Mission 001 is to take action in petitioning the government. I chose the topic because I myself, redeem bottles and find myself wishing that I could redeem the water bottles that I use instead of just throwing them in the recycle bin. I love to recycle and wish more people would do it as well.
I stumbled upon a petition that hits right where I'm taking action! I, of course, signed it and I am trying to take it into the community, and this blog is one of the products of that. Currently, this petition has 864 signatures, the goal is 10,000. I figured with my calculator that at the pace of about 3 signatures a day, it would take 8 years to reach the 10,000 goal! That's a lot of years. I am trying to speed this up by getting more people to open their eyes to this problem and to get them to sign it! I hope I help.
I added the link to the petition on "My Links List" called "PETITION to Sign to support the National Bottle Bill" along with the current Bottle Bill for my state and the campaign for a revised one.
So please, listen and learn about Mission 001 and the National Bottle Bill Petition! Thanks.
